Our Story

Purpose Dance Conference was born from a deep desire to see worshippers walk confidently in who God has called them to be. We believe that self-doubt and negative self-talk will always try to keep you from making bold faith moves—but when you find your identity in Christ, you always win. Our heart is to help you silence the lies, embrace your calling, and steward your gifts in a way that brings glory to God.

This vision is deeply personal.

Our founder began dancing in church at just 13 years old, learning the foundations of pantomime from a faithful mentor. By the age of 15, she was given the unexpected responsibility to lead a dance ministry made up of her peers—at a time when no structure or blueprint existed. She had to build everything from the ground up while still growing up herself.

The expectations were heavy. The ministry operated much like a choir, requiring her to dance at nearly every church event. Over time, this became physically and emotionally draining. What was meant to be worship began to feel like a job. Through this struggle, she had to learn firsthand how to find a healthy balance—honoring both her body and her calling.

During those early years, she often wished she had someone who truly understood the unique challenges of leading a dance ministry, especially at such a young age. Someone who could offer practical wisdom, guidance, and encouragement. Looking back now, she sees that God allowed her to walk that path so she could become what she once needed.

Over the next two decades, the Lord entrusted her with leading dancers across multiple generations—from young children to young adults. She learned to navigate leadership while still maturing personally, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, and growing in spiritual discipline. The mistakes she made became lessons that shaped her into the leader she is today.

Purpose Dance Conference exists so that you don’t have to learn the hard way.

It is a place where experience is shared openly, wisdom is poured out generously, and you are encouraged to take what applies to your journey while leaving the rest. Our hope is that you become stronger, wiser, and more effective in ministry because someone went before you.

This story is also one of partnership.

From the beginning, Daphney has been an essential part of the journey. Her creative gift for choreography and passion for stretching and movement has challenged teams to think beyond limitations. There was even a season when her excellence caused insecurity, creating distance that could have been avoided if there had been guidance about collaboration in ministry.

Today, that lesson has become part of our foundation: there is room for every gift in the body of Christ. Together, we accomplish more for His glory.

Purpose Dance Conference is not just about dance.

If you simply want to dance, there are many companies you can join. But ministry requires something deeper—it requires a life connected to the Holy Spirit. It calls for a heart that reflects Christ, a lifestyle of worship, and a commitment to spiritual maturity.

As worshippers, we are more than performers.
We are a visual expression of praise.
It is the anointing that transforms movement into ministry.

And that is the heart of our story.
